Under the Sea in the Older Toddler and Preschool Classroom

Last week, the Older Toddlers and Preschoolers participated in a week-long Ocean Unit: Under the Sea!

Each morning, the Older Toddlers and Preschoolers enjoyed molding and sculpting sand castles using Sand Play-Doh and exploring sea shells of different shapes, sizes and textures. They used play fishing rods and nets to catch toy ocean animals and enjoyed ocean and/or beach related literature including "All About Tide Pools" published by National Geographic.

During Circle Time, the Older Toddlers and Preschoolers learned all about ocean animals, including fish, sharks, whales, star fish, sea horse, octopus, sea turtles, lobsters and crabs, specifically where they live, the sounds they make, as well as their color, texture and diet!

During Art, the Older Toddlers and preschoolers created fish using paper plates and paint, star fish out of construction paper, paint and sand and crabs out of paper plates, construction paper, paint and glue!

On Wednesday, the Older Toddlers and Preschoolers took a field trip to the Brighton Public Library to explore real, living traveling ride pools provided by the New England Aquarium!
