Forest Animals in the Young Toddler Classroom

Last week, the Young Toddlers learned all about Forest Animals!

Each day during Circle Time, the Young Toddlers enjoyed literature about forest animals, including "Emma's Pet," by David McPhail, "The Tale of Benjamin Bunny," by Beatrix Potter, "One Windy Day," by Tammi Salzano, "Brown Bear," "Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See?" and "Animals, Animals" by Eric Carle, "Tails," by Matthew Van Fleet, "My Very First Encyclopedia of Animals," "Thumper's Guess Who? and "I Love You, Daddy," by Jillian Harker and Kristina Stephenson.

Each day, the Young Toddlers learned about a different animal, including bears, bunny rabbits, foxes and skunks. They learned the color of each animal, where each animal lives, what they eat, the sounds they make and the different times of day each animal wakes up to play!

The Young Toddlers enjoyed learning about forest animals through animal matching games. The Young Toddlers matched adult animals to their young, as well as matched the types of food(s) each animal eats.

During Art, the Young Toddlers used white construction paper, brown paint and paint brushes to create brown bears; white paper, bits of green construction and tissue paper and glue sticks to create a grassy meadow for their bunny rabbit stickers to hop and play; white construction paper, orange paint and paint brushes to create foxes; white construction paper and black crayons to create stinky skunks.

Take a look at the literature and matching games the Young Toddlers enjoyed - and the art work they created!
