4th of July in the Young Toddler Classroom

Last week, the Young Toddlers learned all about America's birthday - the 4th of July!

During Circle Time, they enjoyed literature such as "God Bless America" by Irving Berlin, "America the Beautiful" by Katharine Lee Bates, "Fourth of July Mice" by Bethany Roberts and "The Story of America's Birthday" by Patricia A. Pingry. During Circle Time, we discussed how the 4th of July is America's birthday and the types of activities Americans participate in to celebrate that birthday - parades, picnics, fireworks, etc. We discussed the American flag, including the colors - red, white and blue! - stripes and stars! Each student had a turn waving the American flag while shouting, "Happy Birthday, America!"

The Young Toddlers also participated and enjoyed creating 4th of July flags, fireworks and hats!

They splashed in a Red, White and Blue water table and shook star-filled sensory bottles!

And, of course, we had to bake and decorate cupcakes to really celebrate America's birthday! Each student took a turn mixing up our cupcake batter then enjoyed decorating two 4th of July cupcakes - one to eat during snack and one to take home and share!

Take a look!
