Israel's Independence Day in the Young Toddler Classroom

Over the past two weeks, the Young Toddler students learned about - and celebrated - Israel's Independence Day.

During Circle Time, the Young Toddler students enjoyed learning more about Israel through literature such as "My Cousin Tamar Lives in Israel," "Ella's Trip to Israel," "It's Israel's Birthday!" and "Dinosaur's Trip to Israel."

Each day the Older Toddler students created art related to Israel's Independence Day.

They decorated numerous coloring pages of the flag of Israel, the capital of Israel, and the Western Wall using crayons, markers, dot paint and stickers. They decorated blue pin wheels on straws using glue and glitter. Using pipe cleaners and blue and white beads, the Young Toddlers students created and designed beautiful bracelets to wear and take home. Using yellow, red, green and orange construction paper, the Young Toddlers created pita bread, in which they stuffed with falafel, lettuce, tomato and carrots! In addition to creating a classroom Western Wall, in which each student pasted their prayers, each student created their own Western Wall using a coloring page, brown foam squares, green construction paper and glue.

On Tuesday, May 6, Yal-Day-New celebrated Israel's Independence Day as a school. Each classroom enjoyed a delicious kosher meal of pita, humus, falafel and lettuce!

Each classroom partook in a cooking activity and enjoyed a delicious sweet treat. The Young Toddler students made cupcakes and a beautiful cake in which they decorated and topped with the flag of Israel!
