Israel's Independence Day in the Older Toddler Classroom

Over the past two weeks, the Older Toddler students learned about - and celebrated - Israel's Independence Day.

During Circle Time, the Older Toddler students enjoyed learning more about Israel through literature such as "My Cousin Tamar Lives in Israel," "Ella's Trip to Israel" and "Dinosaur's Trip to Israel."

Each day the Older Toddler students created art related to Israel's Independence Day. They decorated coloring pages of the flag of Israel using crayons. They created U.S. passports out of construction paper and blue paint, then glued pictures of themselves inside... Once dry, the Older Toddler teachers - Pilot Liat and Flight Attendant Elviria - created an imaginary plane, in which the Older Toddlers boarded and headed to Israel! Using pipe cleaners and blue and white beads, the Older Toddlers students created and designed beautiful bracelets to wear and take home. Each student created their own Western Wall using brown construction paper, glue and straw.

On Tuesday, May 6, the students of Yal-Day-New came together celebrated Israel's Independence Day in the Preschool classroom. Every student enjoyed a delicious kosher meal of pita, humus, falafel and lettuce!

Each classroom partook in a cooking activity and enjoyed a delicious sweet treat. The Older Toddler students made a beautiful cake in which they decorated and topped with the flag of Israel!
