Design On A Dime: Art Closet

Design On A Dime: Art Closet

We completely redesigned the school art closet!

Three coats of chalk paint were used on the art closet doors. Chalkboard paint is an easy way for teachers to communicate when art supplies are running low and need to be reordered. Teachers can also use the chalkboard to communicate when they're borrowing supplies from the closet for long periods of time. A small, circular cardboard cup was glued to the side of the freshly painted white art closet to hold chalk.

An adjustable pantry organizer was drilled to the wall to store bulletin board paper and boarders. The pantry organizer came with several deep and shallow shelves as well as bracing rods, which was key for this project! The great thing about the pantry organizer is it mounts to either a wall or a door. The organizer is over 6 feet tall, 17 inches wide and 6 inches deep. The size is perfect as it does not come out too far; the shelves behind it storing colored paper are still easily accessible.
